INTRODUCTION |
|
Management is all about decision making, identification, exploration, implementation and evaluation of problem/opportunities in all functional areas. The only generalized rule in decision making is "THOROUGH THINKING" before arriving at a decision more so in a business environment characterized by high degree of uncertainty. Thus scientific inquiry or research assumes greater significance in a dynamic business environment. The more important the decision and its impact the more important is research. The rigor of the research method chosen, data collection approach, sampling design, statistical analysis and interpretation affect the type of conclusion drawn and the decision. The two day work shop on research in management aims to impart the required practical skill on the art and science of data analysis for decision making. There is a need for understanding for fundamental concepts in measurement, sampling and data collection analysis and handling. At the same time there is need to understand how to use SPSS (Statistical Package for Social Science), a software package used in research. The workshop primarily attempts to inculcate decision making as a science.
