Seminar on Economic Outlook at IMS Ghaziabad
Institute of Management Studies, Ghaziabad organized the seminar on Economic Outlook for PGDM students of batch 2014-16 on August 19, 2014.
The objective of the seminar was to give the exposure and understanding of the Economic Outlook which provides CMIE's view on where the Indian economy stands and where it is likely headed. Dr. Urvashi Makkar, Director, IMS Ghaziabad addressed the students emphasizing on the importance of Economic Outlook and its significance into primary and secondary research.
Mr. Prabhakar Singh, Head - Institutional Business, CMIE shared with the students that the Economic Outlook service contains a million time-series and is updated continuously, in real time. There are 16 sectors that include nearly 120,000 indicators which translate into nearly a million time-series. All these are presented in intelligently laid-out tabulations.
Tabulations are supported with readymade graphics and also a graphing tool. The data can be easily downloaded into spreadsheets or as csv files. CMIE's statistical forecasts are provided in separate tabulations. Economic Outlook also provides scanned images of the original source documents used in building the time-series. The Economic Outlook replaces two of CMIE's earlier services - the Economic Intelligence Service and Business Beacon. It was an interactive session where the demonstrations were given on Quarterly GDP series, Quarterly Inflation Expectations series, national income accounting, trend analysis, forecasting etc. Students found this data base very useful and they can use this information to understand the Indian economy in a better way there by widening their knowledge base about the macro economic factors.
