The Department of Biotechnology which was established in 2002 has progressed at a very fast rate with regard to its developmental activities. Apart from having a good and experienced faculty, the department has established well equipped state-of-the-art laboratories having facilities for plant cell and tissue cultures, microbial cultures, molecular biological techniques, biochemical techniques, animal cell culture and immunological techniques commensurate with the present day demands.

It has procured equipment like computer based U.V. Visible spectrophotometer, Electrophoresis and Gel Documentation system, Refrigerated centrifuge, High Speed centrifuge, BOD incubator, Laminar Air Flow systems, Research Microscopes PCR Thermocycler, Fermenters ( Aerobic and Anaerobic), Walk – in incubators and Cabinets, Lyophilizers, Deep freezers ( temp–80⁰ C) and several other such sophisticated instruments. The department is striving to be a model department imparting quality education and research activity in Biotechnology.
