Dr. Stuart Locke

Dr. Stuart Locke is a Professor of Finance and Former Chairman Department of Finance at the University of Waikato, New Zealand. He had his studies in Australia at the prestigious Australian National University (ANU) and University of Tasmania, before moving to Massey University in 1989 as a full Professor in Property Studies and Director of the Centre for Banking Management.

He has done excellent creative work in the area of Corporate Governance and SME Finance. His track record of 56 Quality Assured Publications includes prestigious journals like International Journal of Policy, Administration and Institutions, Tourism Management, Venture Capital and Journal of Small Business Management.

His empirical work in the field of Corporate Governance, Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) and Sustainable Profit is considered to be pioneer among the top researchers, using statistical and qualitative analysis for demystifying issues related to the effect of capital structure, agency costs, financial crises and Principal-principal conflicts on corporate governance. He has made substantial contributions in applying sophisticated methodologies from strategic corporate finance, small business finance, special interest finance, corporate restructuring to complex organisations. His research expertise in corporate governance, financial analysis and modelling, financial markets and institutions, Information and communication technology, international finance, small and medium enterprises and small business finance acts as an international benchmarks.

He has undertaken 13 externally funded research projects in the area of New Zealand Agribusiness, Small Business Mentoring, Socio-Economic Impacts of IT and Economic Impact Analysis totalling more than $18,85,000 of grants.

He is an excellent orator and delivered Key note addresses at China, India and Mauritius besides successfully conducting Management Development Programmes at Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC).

Prof. Locke is a practicing Chartered Accountancy and also an active member of New Zealand Institute of Chartered Accountants (NZICA). He also plays a proactive role as a Board Member of the Chamber of Commerce, New Zealand.
